After touring for the last 7  years we fancy a break and to site the caravan on a seasonal pitch this year. Ideally want somewhere within a 3 hour drive of Kidderminster. Would like a site close to coach. Ideally with swimming pool and possibly a bar. We are a family with 2 children aged 9,7 and like to visit different areas. We like the idea of heading south towards Ilfracombe but feel it is too far. Have considered Stowford Meadows which is a little larger than we would normally choose in a site but enjoyed our week there earlier this year. We like to got kayaking and surfing so a good surf would be good. May consider Wales if we can find the right site. I would welcome anyones recomendations.

If you are thinking of the Ilfracombe area have a look at Easewell Farm Park - part of the Woolacombe Bay Group - has their own Golf course as well!!!! - no statics but cater for seasonal tourers and have redesigned their pitches with this in mind.

Surpisingly not listed in Rattys list

You could have difficulty getting a pitch in 2011.  Most good ones have a waiting list, you may have to do abit of phoning round.

Our caravan is on a permanant seasonal pitch and we love it.  We find it suits us more and people say oh why go the same place all the time but it suits us and it is like home from home for us.  We all know each other and the kids all play together.

We have asked at Stowford to let us know if they have any seasonal pitches available to contact us.The problem is it is just a little too far away to make it worthwhile for us I think. So we are looking at something a little closer but not sure where at the moment.

I'd say to get the most out of a seasonal pitch, you'd want to be closer than 3 hours away. If you intend using it at weekends (and you have to really to get your money's worth), I'd say 1.5 hours is far enough. It means you can still go early on a Saturday morning and get a decent weekend in.

We're just finishing our first seasonal year, and used the caravan far more than we would have had we still been towing. Yes, you are 'stuck' at the same place, but, if you like it, why not?! We have a journey of about 1.25 hours, and have often gone on a Saturday morning if we've been out the Friday evening.

Good luck in your search.
