Agree with stokie joey. We went to the sun centre last week and it's looking very tired and probably at the end of its life as a facility. having said that the staff were helpful, food was ok and they do a reasonable coffee oh and the kids enjoyed it!

I would recommend MANOROFAN in Abergele we had our first camp there in August and had a great time. It is set in the grounds of the castle and is close for shops, pubs etc, and easy to get to Rhy, Towyn, Conway, Llandudno etc. The sea front in Abergele is good and there is a cycle/ walking path to all of the above towns.
try sunnyvale caravan park its right beside the harbour and only 5 mins walk into town, they have a website if you google it,think its about 18 pounds a night
I wouldn't go bron y wendon is is overly priced with the railway on one side and the road on the other with no shop and the showere aren't heated. All you pay for it a clean and tidy pitch!
Henllys is ok but can get a bit noisey but the toilet/shower block is brilliant. Plus you are a 2min walk from all the shops and chippys ect. But the price has gone up alot for what the site offers as doesn't have a shop or anything on site.

Bron y Wendon is a caravan park and doesn't take tents as far as I know. I agree with it being overpriced. The evening we were there the electricity supply to the bollards that our van and two others were using tripped out. There was no way of resetting and after 6pm there was no-one on site. I wouldn't say the facilities were as good as the average cc site.

PMSL that is sooo funny!
I wouldn't touch Rhyl again with a sh1tty stick tbh, I lived there for most of my life and it has become a run down town, if you like that sort of thing fine but tbh a day in Rhyl is enough for anyone.
If you are REALLY wanting Rhyl, the only decent campsite I would suggest is http://www.nantmilltouring.co.uk/index.htm which is approx 10 min drive from Rhyl, I can't think of any other decent ones.
I would go down the coast a little, Llandudno & Conway are beautiful (plus less Chavvy) or even venture as far as Portmerion and the village. Of course there is Capel Curig & Betws which are astounding for scenery yet mild on life.

August Whitefield Forest IOW.... excited!!!!!
We love Woodbridge Inn Pewsey! Its our best yet!
Still rather new to this camping lark!
It has to be said that Rhyl is awful. It is not the original inhabitants that have made it this way but landlords who have turned what were once guest houses into bedsits that are now filled with all sorts of people that have moved into the town form away. This has happened to lots of seaside towns .

best advice is dont even go there! You could probably handle it for a couple of hours, we went a couple of months ago for the day and couldnt wait to get out of there. It really is Grim Town, with no redeeming features. Agree with other posts go further down the coast to alot better places!

quiet family site in Kinmel Bay about 10mins from Rhyl, Towyn, llandudno about three quarter of an hour away. Site called The Little Paddocks.
However not much there, Asda at the bottom of the crossroads? My Brother lives near enough there just behind this site! Not much (avoid the Chinese :/ at all costs, no pubs etc) Move down the coast...

We live 4 miles from Rhyl, thankfully, and everything said about the place is correct and some more. Up until last week there was a large sign advertising the opening of a new touring park for 2011 , but I believe the council have put the blocks on this venture.
Denbighshire council are the main reason Rhyl is in the state it is now , lack of investment and pointless hair brained schemes, an MP who is happy to help people on benefit but not into work.
Unfortunately Nant mill and Henllys sites close in September due to there being no trade once the school holidays are over. Now we here the news that Pontins are in administration , Prestatyns economy will surfer immensely if this were to close.
The A55 was built so as everybody could get past Rhyl without seeing it!!!!!!
Sorry about this but I'm from Liverpool and I'm proud of it.But Rhyl is where all scousers on the run tend to head to if they can't afford the flight to Alicante!
