i have just had the shock of my life, last week i was diagnosed with MND, so to make the best of what life i have left, and give my 12 and 5 year old some nice memorable times, i have been looking at getting a nice big caravan say something like a lunar lexon, and putting it on a seasonal pitch. (i had to sell my compass rallye as i could not manage towing and manhandling it)
i rang up devon cliffs which is a haven site - it sounded great, vans up to 24ft, swimming pools, bars lovely - until i asked the price - £6500 i said how much - i could not believe it! No wonder they did not have a waiting list!!
so my search continues.

Sorry to hear your diagnosis but I'm glad you're upbeat about it all. Have a look at Stowford Farm Meadows - we really enjoyed our trip there although it looks like its only open Easter to October & then caravan has to go in storage,

Thanks homebird, funny that i rang them this morning, and spoke to a very nice lady, who said she would be able to sort me out with a pitch from easter.
just need to get a van now - something like a lunar lexon.

Great, I'm sure you'll enjoy it there, lots for the children to do. We were there from Monday to Friday & only went off site once. There was entertainment for the children in the morning, play areas, a small (slightly boring) games room & a swimming pool. We went to look at the pets twice & had a go at feeding the animals. I think there was evening entertainment but we didn't go in the bar.
I hope you find your ideal caravan,

Instead of buying a lunar have you considered buying a static on a site? I know for instance Cofton at dawlish is open all year and even they have tourers all year, bring them out and put back into storage as you need them and I am sure there are many sites in devon who will be suitable to your needs whether you chose seasonal/static. Good luck with your search and stay positive.

Devon Cliffs is not a very good walk down to the beach if you have trouble walking also the site is very hilly.

i would love a static - but they are a rip off - pitch fee's excessive, and the prices the sites put on the prices of vans - im looking at spending around £10k on a used van, and a max of £2k per year fees.
i will have a look at cofton though, as i do like winter camping

Sorry to hear your news, but I hope you have some good times to remember with your van
Have you approached Stowford sales to see what vans they have? When we were there they had some great vans and their after care service seemed really good.
We really liked Stosford last year when we went with our little ones and are certainly planning on returning.
Good luck
