I am planning to go over to the lakes (from Sunderland) for a week or more next Whit or mid summer.
I am a very keen ornithologist and enjoy the relaxation of coarse fishing, a campsite that stands out (albeit without showers) is Tarn Foot Farm http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=7087 which is by Loughrigg Tarn, there is fishing and superb walks close by that seem sure to provide a mixture of birds to observe.
Can anyone offer alternative locations ?
Thanks
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
Apologies, forgot to include that I am camping so the CC Low Manesty in Borrowdales is out unfortunately. The Waterside House farm campsite, near Pooley Bridge, Ullswater looks great but i guess like most places in the lakes best away from the school hols ?
I loved the C&CC site at Eskdale. The surrounding area is stunning without all the "touristy" fuss (as long as you don't go in the school holidays). This is my favourite lake site - smashing walks straight from the site, nice pubs within walking distance, just at the end of hardknott pass, not far from Wastwater. Just over half an hour takes you to St Bees if you fancy a nice coastal walk.
Hi, can recommend Newbiggin Farm at Waberthwaite (see my review). We went last whit and because its west lakes, the roads are good and less busy. We did venture into busier area near Buttermere and it took us less than 3/4. Although is C&CC will take none members and takes caravans and tents. So good, we off again at Easter...hopefully without the gunman this time!
