Hello all,

We are in the midst of planning our camping trips for 2011 and are looking at the Isle of Wight as a possible location for one trip.

Does anyone have any suggestions for sites which would be family friendly and importantly not going to break the bank! We are looking at weekends and school holidays (I know, peak = kerching!)

Have you thought of the Red Funnel 5 day breaks - these are very reasonably priced and include your Ferry Crossing. Just Google "Red Funnel" for more information

We went to Appeldurcombe last year for £145 and I think if we had not been towing a trailer it would have been less.

We stayed at Appuldurcombe for 2wks in Sept last year - lovely site 24. 

I'm not sure on prices during peak but we found their prices reasonable for early-mid Sept.  We also booked our ferry crossing (Red Funnel) direct with the site so saved a bit and also the stress of doing it for ourselves. 

We found that Wight Link were dearer than Red Funnel and it also depends on the day and time you sail.

Yes Red Funnel is generally cheaper unless you can get a discount on the Wightlink via one of the Clubs.
The C&CC site at Adgestone just outside Sandown is nice and large and has an outdoor pool and two play areas one for littl'uns and one for bigger'uns and a ball knockabout area. If you're not a memeber it would be worth joining not only for the reduction in the site fees but also you can then book a Wightlink crossing at quite a good discount.

We stayed at Appeldurcombe too last year.  We went with Red Funnel as we needed to go from Southampton.  During the School holidays it is very expensive.  If you shop at Tesco then it might be worth using your vouchers to pay for the Wightlink Ferry.

Hi We stayed at Grange Farm - 2 years ago. Its a simple family run site and very good rates. Beware of the high winds though ! Also dont forget you can use Tesco Clubcard vouchers to book Wight Ferries

We're thinking of booking Whitefield Forest for May half-term, £160 for 2 adults and 2 kids incl ehu. Lunchtime Redfunnel crossings for car and trailer Sat to Sat plus campsite fees make a total price of £377. Had considered The Orchards but kids aren't allowed to ride their bikes on site, so not what we're looking for.

Have a look at Ninham Country Holidays we stayed there in August 07 and had a great time on big pitches with loads of space for cricket/footy/bikes etc.

We have just booked with red funnel 5 days special camping at Waverley Park half term £137. It is right by the ferry terminal and the reviews are good.
