We usually camp in Devon/Cornwall/Wales around the coast and I am considering "branching out" this year.

We relocated to West Midlands recently and so this has opened up the country to us really.  We are a family of 6, children aged 14, 10, 6 and 3.  We do like the beach but last year it was so cold we really didn't get to go often.

Was considering Lake District or maybe the East Coast - does anyone know of any fantastic sites (not bothered with clubs/entertainment) that have nice loos and maybe a play area for the little ones with things to do locally that don't cost too much!!!  I know it's a lot of wants

Any input much appreciated.

There are some nice sites within a short distance from you.

Try Evesham, Oxford & Cambridge.

Otherwise there is East or West Dorset Coast & Norlfolk.

We just moved up from Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk (in between Cambridge and Ipswich - lovely Market town) to Sutton Coldfield.

We have been to Dorset once or twice.  Norfolk was also a favourite.  Some lovely sites near Cromer.  Hadn't thought of Cambridge as it was so close to home always felt it we were packing up then we should at least travel a little.

Welcome to the area.

I would strongly recommend looking a short way west. Caravan & Camping Club have a couple of sites around the area, and then one of my favourites is to head out towards Ludlow & Bishops Castle.

Have a look at http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=3121 Green Caravan Park near Bishops Castle.

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=3945 is a really good site but slightly pricey.

Anywhere Kidderminster / Bridgnorth out towards the west is lovely and if you haven't explored rural Shropshire and the Welsh Marches you don't know what you're missing.

I can recommend Centenary Way at Filey on the east coast of Yorkshire. Lovely site with nice loos and decent washing up area, and the childrens play area is right next to the tent field. A pleasant 15 minute walk down to the seafront and a lovely beach with donkey rides and a paddling pool and kiddies rides on the promenade. also not far to drive into Scarborough where there would be lots more for the older ones.

Why don't you go back up to Scotland? Even if you only go as far as the borders or maybe up to Edinburgh, it's not too bas a journey.

Try Knight Stainforth at Settle - it seems to have everything you want.

Play area on one of the camping fields (they try to put families here) but doesn't get rowdy, games/TV room with pool table and arcade games for older kids and river at bottom of site which is shallow enough for young kids and has a lovely grassy bank for picnics. The site's also in the middle of nowhere so it's lovely and quiet (if you ignore the sheep!) and has stunning views.

Huge toilet/shower block is by far the nicest/cleanest we've ever seen and there's a small licensed shop on site, as well as an info room with dozens of ideas for great days out, including:

Malham Cove & Gordale Scar (stunning - highly recommended!), White Scar Caves, Settle to Carlisle railway and the Ingleton Falls walk (5 mile easy walk with more waterfalls than you've ever seen in a day).

I probably sound like an advert for this place but it's our favourite site. Only possible downsides are a) no mobile phone signal (although I find this a bonus and there's a payphone on site) and b) you have to book early for the main holiday periods as it's a very popular site.

Falbarrow Park in the Lake District is a really nice site. Easy walk into the town of Bowness-on Windermere.
