I leave Exmoor for my trip to Scotland  on June 2nd. My main destination is Arisaig, which is approx 600 miles from me, so I am doing two overnight stops. Depending on where abouts in Scotland I am headed, I sometimes only stop once , but I thought on this occasion I would take my time.

I found on here Belmont Hall CCC cs, it is about 4 miles from J19 of the M6 and seems a lovely spot.  Again only a tenner, which I think is cheap for peace of mind as a single lady caravanner!      http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=10567

My second stop is Blair Drummond CC Aff site.

Getting excited just thinking about it!  Hope we all have lovely weather!!

Yes weather will make all the difference.  We are starting off in Edinburgh arriving there on the 24th May. We are there for 6 nights. We then go to Banchory cc site for 5 nights, then Inverness, well culloden cc site for 5 nights.  We then go to the Isle-of-Skye for a week.   then to Fort William area for 5 nights and have booked a trip on the Jacobite train journey.  Really looking forward to that. We have booked a CL near Largs to finish off our  scotland trip. Our last stop is at Silverdale in the lakes to meet up with our son and his family therre.  Whhile at Culloden we hope to do a trip up to J.O.G  maybe do a b and b for the night... We arrive back home on the 4th July,  hey ho.. Have a good trip.

You will love the Jacobite Train, I did that in 2004 and it is brilliant!  Whilst at Fort William another super ride is the Cable cars up Anoch Mor, on a clear day, the views are amazing.

Fort William is a good base for many places and sights,  Glen Nevis is beautiful, lovely walk along the river. Glen Roy has stunning scenery and the 'parallel paths' from the Ice Age are fascinating, then there's The Commando Memorial, Neptunes Staircase, wild life cruises on Loch Linnhe etc etc. Trouble with Scotland, there is never enough time to do and see all there is on offer!

On my way home I am having three days in the Trossachs area as in the past I have really only driven through this, will probably regret this decision as by then it will be 'midgy'!

Hope you have a lovely time.

I hope you have a good time, though You have chosen some sites that I would tend to avoid.

Edinburgh is a fairly logical place to see, though like many cities, lots of it doesn't appear in tourist brochures!! You might like to visit Rosslyn Chapel (as in The Da Vinci Code) while you're there.

I'm not at all keen on the Banchory site, but I suggest that you take a day trip on to Braemar which has fantastic walking, climbing , scenery and wildlife.

Culloden is one of the bleakest, most god-forsaken places on earth! The battlefield is nearby - but is expensive. You might care to visit the nearby Cawdor castle & gardens.

J O'G is quite a run. It is shabby, run down and is, IMO, very disappointing. However, nearby is the late Queen Mum's 'Castle of Mey' which I really recommend.

As you pass through Brora, drop into the Clynelish distillery.

Round Fort William is nice if the weather is good - same for Skye. I also like Largs though I haven't been there for a while. Nardini's ice cream was pretty famous amongst day trippers from Glasgow. I gather it was recently refurbished, so could be worth a visit.

Anyway, have a great trip.

Two drifters off to see the world.

I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.

Well the holiday is over. What an amazing time we had. We liked all the sites we stayed at.  I'll try and cover it as quick as possible here goes...   Our first main stop was a 6 nights  in the cc club site in Edinburgh from where we visited the Royal Yacht Britannia, Botannic Gardens, Princes street and gardens, Edinburgh Castle and Caithness glass at Crieff.  2nd site was Banchory near Aberdeen for 6 nights, Very well looked after site. We went to Feugh bridge and falls, Aberdeen,Stonehaven, Cairn o mount, Balmoral Castle, Braemar, Linn of Dee, Crathes Castle,Ballater and Glen Muick. and loch Muick  Culloden cc site was our next stop for 7 nights and of course we visited the battlefields, Inverness, The Black isle to see the Dolphins,Aviemore, The Cairngorms and went up the funicular railway to the top of Cairn Gorm. Afternoon tea on the Strathspey railway.  Loch Ness, Fort Augustus. A day trip to J.O.G ( liked this better than Lands End )  Castle of Mey and Dunetts head. ( we did listen to you all out there )  Next was a week on Skye at a small site in Dunvegan on the Loch.  We drove all round the island and visited Portree a couple of times but had a quieter time here resting !  Onnich was next for 5 nights. A trip on the Jacobite railway to Malaig was a highlight here. went to Mull on the lochaline Fishnish ferry loved that trip. Spent a couple of days around Fort William.  Largs was the final stop in scotland. From here we visited Cumbrae and Bute.  We had a cruise on The Waverley and of course visited Nardini's for lunch and one of their famous ices.  Thank you all for your input I think we may be tempted back again to see more of the islands.
