Where is your favourite campsite for a weekend break tha is close to home i.e. less than 2 hours travel? We always end up travelling for 3 hours which I would like to cut back on, an ideas would be welcome. We are always a party of adults 2-6 of us. Thanks in anticipation.

Where do u want go ?? We in the north of the capital would love to go dorset ,hampshire , devon , wiltshire for a weekend ( cornwall too far ) but as always the nightmare M25 will always let us down ! We go north to Suffolk Norfolk Essex even Lincolnshire . I see your south west so you got hour and half start on me so the lovely New Forest must be favourite . Good luck
As you can see, we don't live in Surrey, but one of our favourite areas for a short break is South Warwickshire ( I might be biased, as I was brought up there), there are some lovely places, and Stratford upon Avon of course, or Oxfordshire, lots of variation, the Chilterns, Cotswolds and Thames Valley. Lots of nice areas of Kent and Sussex too.
We live on the Surrey / Berkshire border Nr Ascot and we go to Lincoln Park Farm ( Excellent Site ) Nr Witney and Sandy Balls New Forest we refer to these as our local sites because we can be there in less than 2 hrs and is ideal for short stays as we don't spend all our time travelling.

Thanks for all of your ideas. We are nearly always drawn to the coast, so some good ideas for the "home counties". I've always avoided the New Forest my sister-in-law lives there!!!......But if I could visit without her knowing, then that would be different!

West Wittering in West Sussex is very good for a weekend away. Several camp sites there. Can't remember the name of the 2 we have visited as it was a few years ago now but both were nice, quiet and very clean. The beautiful sandy beach is minutes away. Takes us no more than 1.5 hours max to get there. We live very near to Hampton Court in Surrey.
Just search that area on the camp site search facility on here and they will all show up.
Take a look at Swiss Farm in Henley on Thames, nice for a weekend break has a outdoor swimming pool and club house, Its about 10 minutes walk into henley which has the river and plenty of places to chill and have a drink or meal.

I thought Margo & Jerry lived in Surbiton ! For what it's worth I don't live that far from you in Barnes!
Yes you are near me. Well I actually live in Shepperton just outside Lower Sunbury but I say I live near Hampton Court as most people know where that is and we're only a couple of miles down the road from there.
My neighbours regularly camp at the Henley site recommended by another member and they love it there. Going to try it out too this year. Gawd, they're my next door neighbours at home and they'll be our neighbours on the Henley camp site. Good job we get on well!!
Good luck with your searches! Let us know where you decide to go.
