Most of the Campsites in the New Forest are Forestry Commission Sites buit we stayed at this one (link here) Longfield Site - near Brockenhurst last August Bank Holiday with our Caravan and two sons with their families.The field is adjacent to the New Forest Showground site. The pitches are large. The facilities are in portable buildings but are always kept very clean. The situation is ideal for exploring the New Forest with a gate leading straight out onto Forest Tracks. A herd of deer live in the next field and wander through the campfield at night.

Whoops - correction it's called Long Meadow not Longfield 

Do expect ponies, donkeys & horses to roam in & out of your tent on many of these sites.

The onle private one that comes to mind is Red Shoot C.S. which won't have large animals roaming around your tent, although I did notice lots of ants nests along the perimeter of the field.

It is however, in on one the most pictuesque parts of the New Forest!

Hill Cottage Farm near Fordingbridge has a large area for tents ( some with hook up depending where you pitch)
