Hi, I'm thinking of doing the Capital Ring (walk around London) and wondered if this site permits non-member backpacker tents? It is perfectly placed for the walk.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
We camped here last year in a tent. We were unable to become members but paid a little extra each night. It's a good site for London (although we have little eperience of other sites to compare it too), our only gripe was that it quite noisy as the tent area is nearest to the main road, but then London is noisy per se! It will depend on what you want from a pitch, but as you go into the area you can go quite far into the wooded area on your right, just beyond where the loo block is and I think this would give you a bit of noise protection.
Thanks for your helpful replies. Having checked the Caravan Club website I couldn't find any reference to non-members, and the tariff for the Crystal Palace site only quotes member's prices.
One thing to watch out for is they have had a problem with foxes in the past couple of years. Some friends of ours had their shoes half eaten after leaving them in their awning. When they went to reception it was only then they saw a small note in the window warning people of the problem. So lock anything chewable in your car
