Unless things have changed.....the only site on Jersey with permission to accept Touring Caravans is 'Beauvelande' due to the narrow roads on Jersey. The vans used to be limited to 7m shipping length but they changed that to 8m a couple of years or so ago and you also need a permit from Jersey States to be allowed onto the Island with a Tourer. Someone from the site meets you at the ferry and escorts you to the site and there it has to stay until the return journey.
The C&CC usually do a Rally there and are probably the best people to handle your booking.

thankyou jock02 but rozel do caravans but their restrictions are length caravan and towing vehicle are up to 16.50m (to include any projection to the front or rear of the vehicle).

we want to go for our summer holiday so have no intention of moving sites so staying onsite is perfect for us.

Is it really 9hrs on a ferry to Jersey on the ordinary ferry - we really fancied taking the van to Jersey for a week but as our unit is over 7m we wouldn't be able to get the Condor fast ferry, but 9hrs and the journey down to the port would be too much travelling for just one week

All I would say is watch out for what the ferry company will want to charge you to take your outfit there.

Some of these islands who operate caravan restrictions endorse prohibitive fares in order to deter people from going.

I had a similiar experience when considering the Isle of Man. The ferry company wanted more to transport my outfit and my wife and I than Brittany Ferries wanted to take me on their most expensive western channel crossing to France with all the bells and whistles, and my outfit is considerably smaller than yours!
