Can anyone recommend a small campsite in Dorset, Hampshire or the Cotswolds? We are looking for somewhere no more than two hours from Surrey.

We prefer small and quiet without bars or entertainment. We do have children so perhaps a small playground? Maybe a working farm? Clean facilities are essential!

Anyone know of a hidden gem like this that they will share?!

We will be in our caravan.

Many thanks!!

You could try Cotswold View, it has plenty to do for children, has animals & good facilities. Not been for a couple of years ourselves but it is one of very few sites that we have been to twice!

We have a caravan and have booked Riverside Lakes http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=7773

Not been before but fantastic reviews, no bars or entertainment, but logs dropped off each night for campfires and looks like camping/caravanning was years ago. 5 or 6 spaces for caravans and you choose your 'peg' from the site map when you book.

Happy hunting.

Have you tried searching using the UKCS Camp Site Search facility? . It is very customisable and you can narrow your search down to exactly what you want.

In the Cotswolds, try Hayles Fruit Farm

In Dorset, try Longthornes.

I can't help you with Hampshire, sorry.

We went to Crabbs Bluntshay Farm near Bridport last year, C&CC certificated site Nice and quiet as you would expect from a CS. No play area but my girls were happy enough playing with a bat, ball etc and other children on site. Oh yes it is a small cattle farm too.

We also stayed at Bridge Farm, West Bradley, Glastonbury (C&CC) which was pretty much the same.

Both these have reviews on here, and their own websites.

Happy hunting.

Two hours will only just get you into Dorset from Surrey unless you break the speed limits. Usually takes me an hour and a half to get to Swanage from North Hampshire and a couple of hours to Weymouth. There are some excellent sites in Oxfordshire which should be within two hours drive from you. Many along the Thames.

I usually manage door to door, Surrey to Cornwall in 3 hours, but that is without a caravan so perhaps 3 hours to Dorset etc would be more accurate when towing, I'm happy with that! :)
