Had a great time at FF last June - stayed for 2 weeks in our tent with the dogs. For the most part very peaceful although got busier at weekends. Spacious pitches and well landscaped so you don't feel overlooked. We had good weather for the 2 weeks but there is plenty of shelter if the weather got a bit wild (unless you're in the big camping field which was quite open).
We had an all weather pitch with EHU so no soggy grass and we didn't have to move the tent during our stay. Recommend the all weather surfaces - so flat!
Nice to be able to choose your pitch on arrival. Lots of things that set it apart from other sites like the fridges, freezers, mobile recharge facilities and microwave for campsite use. TV aerials if you need them, canoe hire for the lake, firepits for open fires in the evening. Nice washing up area/laundry. Showers and loos aren't ultra modern but hot water was always plentiful and they were kept really clean and we never had to queue.
Good walks from the site including the long walk over the hills to the pub (but check opening times as you don't want to go all that way to find it closed).
Only downside is that it's quite a way to the nearest shop so remember to get supplies when you're out and about. Honesty box in shop for basic supplies like bacon, eggs, milk, bread and OJ but other than that you'll need to go into Builth Wells or Llandridnod.
Would definitely recommend.
