hi all, looking to book a few days in the new forest but seem to be rather confused about the sites there. a lot seem to have no toilet or shower blocks or have bad reveiws. as we're in a tent with no loo, we wondered if any one could recomend a nice site for us, many thanks.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
There are lots of commercial sites around the New Forest all with full facilities. You shouldn't have any problem finding one with wc/showers. Look under Hampshire on the camp site search.
I think maybe you have been looking at the sites run by the forestry commission. They have sites dotted through the forest and range from very basic to full facility. I think it is maybe one of there basic ones that you have seen.
Our fave campsite is Holmsley in the new forest, it is a very large campsite..... 700pitches but the facilities are always clean, the shop is well stocked and the staff are fantastic. You can book through forest holidays and we have never had a trouble getting a pitch. The only thing I would recommend is not going for their premium pitches as it seems the premium pitches are right outside the shower and toilets blocks of which there is several but it's a very busy area 24hrs a day.

48 nights booked for 2011, Starting 18th April woop!
Hollands Wood is good - it's got toilet and shower blocks but that's about it - no EHU, no shop etc.
Very large site (600 pitches) but actually is IN a forest, no marked pitches (in fact, no real pitches - you plonk yourself down wherever you feel like) or manicured lawns here and the New Forest horses/ponies are all over the place
