We went a couple of years ago and loved it. The onlyu reason that we haven't been back has been serious illness and a couple of deaths in the family - which has severly restrcited our camping overall. Yes at first it seemed expensive, but considereing the we only left the site twice in 5 days meant that we saved on fuel and general cost of days out. First time was for food, and the second was on our last day, when torrential rain meant that most of the rides had to shut for safety reasons.
You get wrist bands at the beginning of your stay which gives you unlimited access to teh themepart/zoo. You could nip in and out - we used to go into the park when it opened and then go back to our camper for lunch, coing back to the park in the afternoon.
