Hi all.
I'm looking for a little more info on the camp-site at Drayton manor, if anyone out there has been.

I'm thinking of stopping there for a week over the summer with my two kids whilst my hubby is still at work. (He only works in Tamworth, so he would be with us at the evenings and weekends!)

I don't drive so I need to know how accessible things are and what else there is to do there besides the obvious!

I haven't stayed there but we visited Drayton Manor last year (had a great day out) and took a peep at the facilities at the end of the day.  The toilet block was modern and clean (it was the end of the season - school was about to go back).  It was just a big "field" and I don't recall there being any play area or much for the kids to do.

I would think there would be bus that would pass near the entrance of Drayton Manor and from what I remember there was a few shops etc that we passed on the way home.

I'm not sure if I would want to stay on this site for a week unless I could take the kids "off site" easily - otherwise you'll have them wanting to go to the theme park every day as there isn't really much else to do.  We had considered staying just a night or two at most to make it easier to access the theme park (tbh we only live in Sutton Coldfield so not sure if we would actually do it!)

Just thinking that they were building a hotel complex last summer - that may have some facilities that you could use, maybe a swimming pool etc

I was thinking of getting a season ticket for the theme park (£50 pp) so we could go as many times as the kids wanted, but just wondered if there anything else within walking distance, even if its just a little town, cinema, swimming baths etc???

I have seen the reviews on this website but there are only a couple for the last couple of years and wondered if anyone had been a little more recently. xxx

I hav'nt stayed there for a few years. When i did there was no EHU, facilities basic but all you needed for a few days. Quite a walk to the nearest shops. Don't know what else there is to do as only ever stayed 2 nights and kiddies went on the park both days. Fabulous time had by all, would'nt stay for a week though

It's about 10 mins in the car from Tamworth Town, I'm pretty sure you'd be able to get a bus outside. The town is nice, it's got a good park for the kids and a castle which isn't to expensive. There is also a cinema, bowling and the Tamworth Snowdome down the road which has a pool, ice rink and real snow slope where you can so skiing, snowboarding, sledging and snowman building. 10-15 mins the other way is Kingsbury Water Park which has lakes, playground and a childrens farm inside. You can always go into Birmingham too from Tamworth.

We only live 15mins from Tamworth so any questions feel free to ask (don't know anything about public transport tho!
