I'm looking for a quiet and decent campsite in the ross-on-wye or symonds yat area. Ideally on the banks of the river or at least only a short walk away. Any suggestions?

We used to go canoeing down the Wye valley 2 or 3 times a year but never stayed at an official campite, we used to phone round the local farms and arrange to camp in one of their fields, never got charged more than £5 per night for the tent and normally pitched right on the river bank. Happy days

symonds yat, canoe centre has a beautiful waterfront location, we have stayed there may times. great pub food in the the pub across road as well.....

We stayed at Doward Park in 2007; I'd recomned it - was nice and quiet, lovely facilities and well maintained site but a bit of a walk through the woods to the river - downhill on the way there, uphill (of course) on the way back, but very do able, I'd say 15 mins walk.
