Hi

I am looking for some advice please, my sister is getting married in Gretna in August and I was thinking that as it is school holidays we may be able to take the tent and stay over for a few extra days, but when I type in the search for Gretna it only comes up with one site and it is a cs site...

Can anybody recommend a site very close to Gretna Green, for a large tent, 2 adults and 4 children ages from 1yr -10yrs....Prefer a quiet site, not a haven type place...

Thank you all xx

HI I got married in Gretna last year and my auntie and uncle had the same problem but found a campsite and caravan park called Queensbury Bay caravan park. They take tents of all sizes. I have included the web address. Its very nice and thay had a lovely two night stay. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=2390. They have a well stocked shop, great showers a spa. Prices vary from £10 -£20 thay have electric to.

It is based just outside Annan somewhere called Powfoot its about 12 miles away from Gretna Green about 15 - 20 min drive.

Hope this helps

Kate

oh yes found the robert the bruce one, very handy for gretna. Thank You

The queensberrybay one prefer no children...although they do take them you on limited pitches!

I am also liking the look of one called Hoddom castle which isn't too far away.

I will decide between the two and book asap I think.

Thanks guys

Brier Lea is just along the road from Gretna and is a site we use whenever we are heading south and want an overnight break.

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=9168

The even have an indoor swimming pool that you can rent for your exclusive use.

Because they are also a B&B, they do you a "Campers Breakfast", and this is exceptional value for money.

We are more than happy to take folk attending weddings at Gretna (got married there ourselves three years ago). We are seven miles from Gretna, located in the wooded landscape of Netherby Estate http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=4291

When they say they are getting married at Gretna it could be anywhere as there are a few wedding places. Robert the bruce would be the closest but both hoddam and queensberry bay are good also and queensberry take kids no problem as we have been there with ours many times i think they just dont want over run with kids.
There is also a site in gretna right next to the black smith shop, and the site in the link above looks nice

Just got back from Queensberrybay. I must admit to being a regular there and have always found kids are welcome as long as they are well behaved and happy to play in the football field, visit the many rescue animals or take long walks on the sea front.
I think its more a case of there's not much for them to do in bad weather rather than them not being welcome.
As already said, theres a cracking private Spa on site for adults at a reasonable price
