Hi. I've had a quick look on the good old campsite search but my computer's playing up and I can't see all the comments so hoped I could get a few opinions here.

We're looking to stay near Burnham-on-Sea for a few days from May 30th (Bank Holiday! ) We'd like a quiet(ish) family site with good showers/toilets and maybe a park, to use as a base. We don't want to be on an all singing and dancing haven type thing. There's the wife and I and our 2 nippers aged 2 & 4.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi

Have a look at the campsites in Brean - there's lots to chose from - they will typically vary from the large ones i.e. Holiday Resort Unity to smaller ones.

This one has good toilets/showers:

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=northam+farm&by=sitename

And this one would be much quieter and is right on the beach so not far for little legs to walk!

Hi sugolly, just a quick reminder

Important: When posting details of a camp site, please ensure you link to their UKCampsite.co.uk listing, not direct to their website, to enable reviews etc to be read and left!

Hello again - yes I have been to both sites.  We first went to Northam Farm in Oct 2005 and again in April 2006 but I wasn't a UK Campsite Member then so I've not done a review.

However, I have left a review for Channel View in Brean.

Warren Farm at Brean (as linked to above) is a large campsite but is split into two sites. Their other site, right next door, is called Sunnyside and is much quieter and well away from all the clubs and noise. It is a well maintained flat site and running down the centre is the kiddies play area with swings, slide etc. It takes caravans and tents side by side and there is a dog free area.

If I remember rightly there is a pub and a fish and chip shop at the entrance and you can walk through the site to the main Warren farm site where there is a shop. There is also a fishing lake. The site is within walking distance of all the local entertainment but far enough away to be peaceful. The beach is just across the road over the sandhills. Burnham is a short car drive away.

Northam Farm is the best of both worlds.
Quiet with no entertainment on site, but within walking distance if you choose to go to it.
Patrolled at night by security.

If your a member of the CC the site at Hurn lane is excellent.

Good kiddies play area, two excellent toilet blocks.

One side of site is mainly all hardstandings with a few grass pitches and the other side is all grass pitches.

Thanks for all the replies. My internet's now sorted so I can check out the reviews of suggested sites.

Dave, I'm not a member of the CC, is it worth joining? We've a folding camper and not a caravan.

We're also looking at the C&CC's Minehead site. The journey up to the campsite sounds a little hairy to sound the least, has anyone successfully navigated it towing a folding camper?

We've booked Minehead so not close to Burnham after all

Thanks for all the advice, we'll check a few of those out when we're down there and we'll let you know if we managed to get up the hill to the Minehead site!

Thanks Sue. If we find a spare week we'll book there. A few people have recommended it here and elsewhere :)
