we've booked a 5 day camping trip with the tent for 31st May at Christchurch campsite near river wye, but are looking to make use of the weekend before for a couple of nights. I'd like to find somewhere for me and the young kids somewhere off the a49. Can anyone recommend?

Hi. As far as I'm aware, the A49 is a pretty long road (Near Preston to near Ross on Wye). Anywhere particular you're thinking of?

Was about to say the same: I live near, and travel to work along the A49 and that is not far south of Preston, which is rather a long way from Ross on Wye!
Where are you travelling from, what area do you have in mind?
I live near A49 in Shropshire, there are quite a few along the whole route north to south, and then on into Herefordshire there are a number of sites. If you are looking for another site near Christchurch there are plenty to choose from. Have a look on the campsite search on here.

Looking at nearer to the bottom of the a59 (rather than Preston). I did see a couple of nice lookin sites on the website near ludlow, Monstay Farm and Clun Valley Camping. Just checking availabilty but would love some more suggestions.
Just a little way from the A49 at Leominster is Townsend Touring at Pembridge (A44). Absolutely well worth a visit. They sell their own meat on site and the site is immaculate.
