I know Ive left it a bit late but only want a few days away and wondering if anyone can help

We have a tent and EHU (might not use though) and would like somewhere for a few days in Aug that comes recommended and fits in with the criteria!!

Must Haves:
No more than 2.5 hours from Wiltshire
Kid friendly with a park
Bar in or nearby

Would likes:
Pool
Sea nearby
Attractions

Def not:
A big chain like Haven (not that I dont like these as Im already going to a chain park this year would just like something individual and home run!)

Would really like some tried and tested sites - thanks!!!

Thankyou Mrs E, that is very much on my list to call tomorrow. Looks a lovely site and has good reviews from here and friends.

I also dont mind travelling further afield for that great campsite - maybe Cornwall or Norfolk. Kelling Heath is one I was going to bookmark but going to Norfolk next week so not sure if I can do it twice in one year.

I was going to do IOW (actually the one you are going to in July) but worked out too expensive for ferry although I do have good clubcard point at the moment!

If you do decide to go to IOW check out the ferry deals with the campsite.  We booked our ferry last year through Appuldurcombe (as it was our first visit and first time taking the caravan on a ferry!) and have done so again this year - it works out a bit cheaper.

You could try putting in different times for your ferry crossings - if you're flexible you could get it a LOT cheaper esp if you can travel early morning or early evening. Red Funnel tends to be cheaper than Wight Link

BIG pitches, nice (outdoor) pool and nice beach at Caerhays (also known at Porthluney). No bar onsite but they do takeaway meals - or they did when we last visited!

def agree with Mrs E about trying differing time for the ferries.

We found a couple of yrs ago it was cheaper to go over on Friday eve and come home Sunday lunchtime. Even paying for two extra nights camping we saved money on the Sat - Sat crossings. This was with red funnel which i found cheaper than wightlink.
