Hi were planning on a trip to alnwick castle in summer as my eldest is Harry potter mad and he was quite young when we went last I was wondering if anyone had camped at any good sites near the castle in driving distance not too far. Reasonably priced and good for kids and other attractions I have read reveiws but not sure on which ones are near the castle really thank you lynn xx

Seahouses is not too far from Alnwick and some lovely countryside around too. There's a Certified site if you are a member of the C&CC - Annstead farm. Its very reasonably priced. Bear in mind its a working farm though. We went on a cold easter and didnt enjoy it as much as we feel we would have in summer due to the cold weather and the facilities are a bit basic if you arent used to them, but the owner has made improvements and it would be worth a visit during summer. There's another site along the road at Bamburgh called Waren -it used to be a great site till they got greedy, so i'd reckon the prices are far too high to count as reasonable for a family.

Cool campers use Delta Pegs.

Hi there is a site in Seahouses called Springhill Farm it is great loveley toilets and showers immaculate it it not very dear and you can see the sea and Bamburgh castle fantastic site it also has holiday cottages and wigwams on
we stayed at Springhill Farm last summer. Great site and our son loved it (he cried when we left!) We visited alnwick for the day. I think it took us about 30-40 minutes in the car.
Hi, Nunnykirk is not far away, plenty of open space, no park for the kids just green and woodland. Went to Alnwick castle last year, great place to visit, the kids would love the maze in Alnwick gardens. The castle is definetly child friendly. Also a castle to visit would be Bamburgh and a great beach.
We visited Waren campsite and I have a brochure with the prices if you want them. It is a bit dearer than some but there were some dearer sites in the area and one or two that looked poor. We live about 30 miles away and had a trip around this area checking campsites a few weeks ago and it was the best site for us out of 8 we visited. We usually have children with us. We ran out of time to look at Springhill Farm so can't comment on that one except it is in a good area near Seahouses.

Hi, if you're up there on the weekend of 6/7th August our re-enactment group will be invading the castle and putting on a battle all weekend, there will be lots going on for the children.
We will be looking for a campsite ourselves for a few days on the way up from Essex to break the journey up, was looking at the York area.
