Have just had a day at Clumber Park and noticed that a 1/3 of the BBQ area was fenced off.
This is the NEW camping area (not the caravan part).

Access is directly after entering the main gate area near the Cricket Ground. No access via the BBQ area.

The site has a Electric Barrier with key code, i spoke to the warden and he said it had just opened yesterday.
The site has water and firepoints but as of present no EHU's.
There are a number of Camping Cabins (with electric) and a Yurt is to be errected.
BBQs are allowed if Gas or Charcoal provided that they are raised off the grass.
Currently there are 2 portacabins (Male & Female) both with 3 showers, ladies 3 toilets plus basins, mens 2 toilets, (could be 3 and i think urinals) and basins. Very Clean and modern, showers im told by my daughter had fold down seats, these are temp as if the temp site is successful a propper toilet block will be planned for 2012.

Also at present with any booking theres a 20% off in the shops and a reduced cycle hire fee.

There is a security company that patrols the site at night who can request to see your passcard and a quiet policy between 10pm and 7am.

Fees shown are from
Yurt £20 per night sleeps 4
Cabin's £35 per night sleeps upto 5
Tent pitch £15 per night

I think im going to be trying it out soon as i was quite impressed with my initial visit.

Well they'd better hurry up with building the yurt because some friends of mine have booked it for royal wedding weekend!

Also I was under the impression that they are being charged £50 per night?

The yurt is £50 ...possibly a typo above, as leaflets around the park say 50.

I was there yesterday (see post further down), but didn't see the yurt. There are 2 styles of cabins, one furnished with beds etc and one completely empty so you have to take own mats/airbeds and sleeping bags.

I tried to ring today to book for the beginning of June, but no one there, so I had to leave a message

I've been following similar threads with interest, we love Clumber and to be able to stay overnight with our tent is brilliant. Thanks all for the info.

Hi Thats hot off the press news. I rang them on Easter Saturday 11 am to be told they were not accepting Tents. Has anyone got a booking number. Clumber Park is a great venue.

I had to settle for the egg man in York. Kept moaning to me that visitors were ripping him off by staying 20 mins over the 11am leaving deadline and about the size of family tents, then saying it to the others as well. Not supprising there were only 8 placings on a hot Easter weekend

I'm really happy Clumber are taking tents again! We used to go in the Early 90s when you could camp in the walled garden and loved it! Will be watching with interest!!

Oops it was a 'tepee' not a yurt. ( results of having an amusing conversation with wine whether a Tepee is a Wigwam or not so got totally confused!

Anyhow we went to have a nosey at them whilst our friends were stopping there. The Tepees and the camping pods are vitually identical to look at apart from the Tepee is clad in cedar shingle thingys and the pods are clad in clay tiles. Inside the the pods are just carpeted - nowt else apparently. The Tepees inside have benches around the edge with a coffee table in the middle - it can all be converted to a large double bed which apparently there's room for 5(!) people to share. There is also a worktable /unit. Heater, lighting and electric sockets.

The pods/tepees were all together at the more sheltered end of the camp site. My friend did comment that the tent field does seem rather exposed ...
