Hello again. We've narrowed our search for a site but now i'm not sure which pitch size to go for, we've got a large tent, Gelert Horizon 8. Trouble is my garden isn't big enough to pitch it so i'm not sure of the size complete with guy ropes and of course the car parked next to it. So any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Steve
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
We had a Horizon 8, complete with porch (and car!) and pitch size never was an issue. The sites we've gone to, a large number of the tents are of that size.
Taken from the Camping and Caravanning Club's "Choosing Your Tent" page:
"Some manufacturers are also beginning to quote the ‘pitching area’ of their tents. This is the total size of the tent, including guy ropes. This can be a useful guide, but will obviously be larger than the useable area inside. A more helpful measure is the size of the tent without including guys, since this is the size you will need to quote when you book a pitch at most campsites. If, for example, you want to pay for the cheapest, standard pitch at a Club Site you’ll need to keep these measurements at 5m x 9m or less."
...so at 350cm x 740cm (?) your tent would be within the limit for a standard pitch on a Club site, and no doubt on many commercial ones.
