Hello, I was wondering if anyone can help me. I am looking for campsite in the region of ullswater and would love to find one that was like the following; quiet, woodland, privacy between tents, not overcrowded, just like old fashioned camping sites, is there such a thing? the one's I've looked at all seem to cram as many tents as possible into a field, I understand they do this for economic reasons, but surely there must still be some of the old fashioned sites around, don't need family entertainment, discos etc, just would love some peace and quiet and somewhere where the tents are not 3 metres apart,oh my....I know I am probably looking for the impossible?? Thanks to anyone who can help.

This isn't much help but I agree...when I looked last year around Ullswater I couldn't find any that I liked the look of - as you say - just sem to all go for the refugee camp approach and cram more and more tents on.

You will have to change your location..... We have just had a lovely weekend, only 7 campers in total. They all enjoyed the space and peace, and went for walks which they all enjoyed

Visit Llandrindod Wells! Great scenery, walks, cycling, red kites. Ideal for exploring Mid Wales.

There are a few, but it really depends when you plan to visit. We usually stay at Waterside House, which is brilliant (no clubhouse etc), but it can be very busy in high season purely due to location. Although its a very big site and you could easily tuck yourself in a quiet corner. Another one that is supposed to be good is "The quiet site" - this one should suit you down to a T. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=2923

I absolutely adore this part of the world and have visited most of the sites but ive not been in the quiet site, but I reckon its probably just what you are looking for.

Glenridding -turn off the main road (Greenside Road which runs in an arc off the main road and back on to it. )Half way along that arc go up Greenside Road up the hill until you come to a left turn which takes you down to Gkenridding Beck and heading for Helvellin....over a bridge and you are at a farm at the foot of the Fell. There is a camp site there that looks as if it is from the 1950. Gillside I think its called. It has Loos and a wsh room. Don't know if there are showers but the buidling must be 1950s

Many thanks for all your help, will certainly look at these ones, we had a horrible camping experience 3 years ago, site was horrible and muddy, you came out the shower block dirtier than when you went in and it was sooo overcrowded.. persuaded my husband to try again, but need to find a 'nice' peaceful site or I think it will be our last ever....thanks again for the suggestions.
