Hi, I need some help and some advice. I'm looking to go camping to the west coast of Scotland for a few days in the middle of July.  I have 2 young but very active children so I'm wondering if anyone can recommend any campsites on the west coast that welcome families with young children. This will also be our first go at camping so any tips please.

Our favourite is Point Sands in Tayinloan, Kintyre, i't's right on beach so you can have a campfire at night and kids can play during the day, woods beside for exploring, gathering fire wood, and playpark, small site shop, and loads of wildlife around, bats, deer, rabbits, ducks..

There is reviews on here about it.

Hi There dont know where on the west coast you want to go but think about dumfries and galloway and one of our fav sites is Brighouse bay near kirkcudbright ideal for kids a big park but feels quiet and loads of room between pitches. If you need any info on the area for kids feel free to ask as i live in Dumfries

Gerry, have you any thoughts on Greenloch House in D&G?  Looks like a lovely wee site and fancy trying it.  Sorry OP for highjacking your post.

And to OP - any of the sites at Arisaig are gorgeous!

Thanks everyone for replying to my message. My wife wants to go to the west coast this year as she's originaly from there. I will look up point sands on the net when I get home. Sounds like the ideal place for us and the kids.

Have a good summer everyone and if anyone else has any more ideas please leave a message.

We use Oban camping club. It is at gallanoch farm. They take tents, tourers and motorbikes. There is a small swing park but great places for kids to go exploring as my 2 kids do, they prefer this site to most I have been to.
