Would like to travel down from Liverpool to enjoy some Cornish campsites. Was thinking of breaking the long journey with a stay-over in Gloustershire area. Has anyone out there done something similar and can offer some advice on where they stayed and how it went!! Thanks

we are off to cornwall on the 28th May Tollgate Farm i looked at booking a travelodge/premier inn in devon/somerset areas on the Friday night but most seemed expensive.

It might sound stupid but i found a premier inn at Newport wales a family room for £29 i know we have to pay the toll etc but its only 3 hours to the site from there rather than a 5 hours trip from home and the M4 M5 traffic nightmare we snapped it up.

so i`d recommend a stop over

We travelled from the North East to Cornwall last year and doing it again this year. We travelled straight there - we went through the night and took is 8.5 hours which was a very long drive but found it ok as not much traffic on the roads.

We did not want to leave the car all packed up in a car park overnight and we use handiracks and have the tent on the roof so we would have had to take that off and that takes about and hour to take off then put back on again.
