Living in the area, our favourite sight is the road over to Holy Island / Lindsifarne, when the water covers it.

Check the tide times (http://www.northumberlandlife.org/holy-island/Page3.asp)

Visit the stunning island, it's castle and Abbey. We especially love the craft shops and cafes with lots of homemade soups, etc.

The the BEST things, get to the mainland site, where there's a little car park.. and watch the sea starting to cover the road. Just an amazing site. Kids will love it.

Kriss

When do you plan to do your trip?

If you want something extra to see if you're planning a visit to Alnwick Castle, my re-enactment group are staging a battle there on the weekend of 6th August.

I'm also looking for ideas for days out in that area, so keeping an eye on these threads.
