What about the North Yorkshire coast? Loads of great beaches (Filey would be great with kids that age), lots to do in the surrounding area, (castles, steam trains, boat trips, sea life centre, museums, farms, stately homes etc) lots of different sites from huge all singing and dancing ones to small basic ones, whatever floats your boat. Cant guarantee the weather, but that's the same anywhere in the UK.
