Hello there

We are very new to camping and have not yet had our 1st go.We were thinking of somewhere in Derbyshire ??

We have 4 children to entertain and want to make sure we get a good, clean site with electric hook up. Our children are 10yrs,twins who are 4 and another little one who is 3.

We are slowly getting all our equipment together and I so very much want this to be a good first experience even though I understand we will be learning along the way.

I just think we could get so much out of camping so really any advice would be helpfull.

Thanks

Hi Kelly, welcome to the forum, could you please tell us a bit more about what kind of outfit you have, is it a tent pitch you require or a caravan or motorhome maybe?

I live on the edge of the Peak district, and can recomend the sites around Carsington water, of which there are several to choose from, but the best bit is that its within walking distance of this great family facility which is compleatly free to use (except for bike and boat hire charges) and includes a visitor centre, playpark, BBq facilities, and lots of paths and cycle tracks to explore through the stunning countryside.

Matlock Bath also has lots to do for all age groups, and the little ones will love Guilivers Kingdom, their own theme park mainly aimed at the under 10s.

Hi Kelly
Callow Top seems to be a popular site for people with children, lots of others to play with and very near the Tissington trail for cycling, and there is cycle hire nearby where you can get those trailer things that attatch to your bike to carry the little one.

Anther nice site is Lime tree park, it's quite near to Buxton which is a lovely town.

It really depends what you all like doing and how long you intend staying.

Thats what's so good about Derbyshire it has something for everyone.

Have a look at callow top, lots to do For kids and location is excellent for days out in fact they have a whole page on their website dedicated to family days out. We haven't been yet but are going next month. Last year we went to rivendale which is just up the road and a great site but in my opinion not quite so great for young children, play area pretty basic and v muddy but the weather was so terrible

Hiya

Thanks so much for the quick replies and apologies for my lack of info lol. We have got an Outwell Hartford XL tent and at first are just planning a couple of nights to see how we manage and then we hope to be camping as much as financially possible.

The kids just love being outdoors,So some of those ideas sound good, will take a peek.

Other things that are important are space and safety and cleanliness of toilets etc (god im hard to please )
