Those that have been to Teversal - tell me all about it. We have a dog that likes to run, kids that like to ride bikes and run and also a 1 year old either in pushchair or backpack.

What is there to do in the area.

thanks

Lou

We live not far from there, there is a country park right across from the site great for dogs (we walk ours there almost every Sunday) bikes and runners! The main pathways are pushchair friendly too.

There is also Hardwick Hall just up the road and you are not too far from the peak district,

Hi I am fairly local and have used this site a few times - it is 5* accommodation indeed! As hoppity has said, there is a country park literally across the road which is great for cycling, ball games and walks (I think the site does not allow ball games, and I had some problems with my 12 year nephew struggling to comply with that during our stay...!). Hardwick hall has various parts to it; there is the "New Hall" which is very complete and a classic Tudor stately home with lots of tapestries and furniture and a nice garden. When I have gone with kids I have found they prefer the "Old Hall", a burned out shell that is much more spooky and fun to run around in.

Like all good CCC sites they have lots of tourist information available so you can also find out about things like quad biking in Notts near Thorsbey hall, and other child friendly activities in the central Notts/N Derbyshire area.

If your family like swimming there is an excellent pool in Mansfield, called the Water Meadows, with wave-effect machine etc in the main pool, chutes/slides, toddler pool etc and very good fun for all ages. There is a multiscreen cinema too (if the weather is bad and you need some indoor entertainment).

You won't be bored, I am sure!

There's the McArthur Glen shopping outlet just by J28 of the M1.
The Carnarvon pub in Teversal does excellent food.
Hardwick Hall which has also been mentioned.
If you want to go a little further afield, Meadowhall is only 45 minutes up the M1 at junction 34.
Clumber Park is a National Trust property about 30 minutes away.
There's also Rufford Abbey and Thoresby market (if you like that sort of thing),

luv it NOT - I am a woman that HATES shopping with a vengeance.

Is Hardwick Hall dog friendly? well the grounds?

Im really looking forward to it - Our 1st trip to a c&cc site, but it looks bloomin lovely.

Here's hoping the weather is dry & no wind, we lost our awning and damaged our van on the last trip out, so just got it all back and fixed, complete with new awning.

Thanks

Lou

There is a pub at the end of Carnarvon Street (on the left up the main road from the site) it might be called teversal grange, that has a small room at the side where they allow dogs in - we took shelter in there after a wet walk.

We visited Teversal, admittedly a few years ago now, and really enjoyed it. The country park is great for dog walking and the facilities there are first rate. Because we only went for the weekend, we took all our supplies with us, and never took the car out the whole weekend! Bliss! I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

We have been to Teversal 3 times now, and it is great for walking.  We have the dog with us, and spend most days either walking on the Teversal Trails or in Brierley Forest.  As other people have said the Carnarvon Arms is very good food, and they let dogs in the Beer Garden round the back.

You will enjoy it, it is a fab site and location.  If you google 'Teversal Trails' you will get all the walks from the website.  The 'Lady Spencer' walk is very good, although about 10 miles, and includes walking through the grounds of Hardwick Hall which we have done with the dog no problem.

Newstead Abbey is only 10 mins away too - Sherwood Forest is about 20 mins away.
