I'm gutted and not sure what to do now. Basically, we made a provisional booking at west fleet for 5 families and alot of email correspondence followed. The last email confirmed our booking with reference number, that eve we tried to pay deposit and the details had apparently changed. Can't book it and the policy had all of a sudden changed to 5 days minimum on bank holiday AFTER they confirmed. No amount of me talking to the manager is changing things

I'm gutted, i doubt 5 families will be able to book in anywhere in Aug bank holiday now.
Has this happened to anyone else!

There are lots of campsites in Dorset/Hampshire. I would try one of the others. There must be one that can take you all. I do sympathise as I arrange a weekend for a few families and it's been such a headache to find somewhere that will suit everyone, that will accommodate a group and that will take everyone's outfit. Good luck!

Sounds to me like they are hanging on to the 5 pitches in the hope of 5 full week bookings instead of 3 days.

Ive just looked at their website and they say "minimum stays are now being applied" BUT they are not saying how long.

Unfortunatley i dont think there was a lot you could do as a booking is NOT confirmed until payment has been sent and accepted. The booking was provisional and this leaves them with the choice of fully accepting it or changing their mind. You havent parted with any money so they are not obligated.

It still doesn't change the fact they have behaved disgustingly by disappointing a lot of people, and I hope they have 5 EMPTY pitches for the entire bank holiday!

I would have a good ring around and try and book somewhere. There are lots of less greedy sites out there who have decents morals too.

Good luck

Thanks merlina, that's what I think. When speaking to the manager she said the same about confirmation but the email was sent in the morning and we denied it about 6pm so they changed their policy in approx 8 hours! To be honest I thought they were honour it but no. It's difficult when doing groups as the deposit can't be paid by one person, we all had to do it individually that gave them scope to change. It's a shame really as were planning on holidaying there quite a few times

I'm having a call around now, places are either fully booked or don't accept groups

I had a problem with Westfleet last year. Late summer.

I wanted to book 2 pitches. One for myself and husband and one for my daughter and her family for the weekend.

They wouldn't let me have EHU pitches as they said that though they had them they were being kept for people who wanted to book a longer stay. That i could camp on Sea Barn and use the facilities of both sites.
I was anxious to get a booking for a site with a pool so gave them £75 over the phone.

Well my husband said he wouldn't go without EHU, the walk to the pool would be too much for the kids so i tried to phone them and explain. I got nowhere and lost the money. It was my own fault i know but there attitude was what annoyed me most. Definitely no customer service training on that site.

That's awful wendle, I get the feeling that they have enough custom they don't care about those that they are upsetting.
I'm having a right nightmare finding somewhere!

Hi Laughing Girl.

What about Beacon Hill near Poole.
One of the less popular Dorset sites so you might get booked. We used to go years ago and it wasn't too bad at all.Just as good as Westfleet in my opinion.

Or Sandford . It's a parkdean place so all singing and dancing. We managed to get a late booking last year there and it wasn't too full so you might be lucky.

Wendy.

We found Bagwell Farm a good site when we stayed in May. Very friendly staff, clan toilets etc.

We]ve booked for first week in August, based on good reviews on this website. Now you've put me off. Hope their customer service skills improve before we get there. If it spoils our holiday, my other half will never let me hear the last of it!
