We have just returned from two nights at Parkfoot,Pooley Bridge.A great site as we have been there many times. However! There is a £10 per adult(group booking) noise charge refundable if you are quiet and not if your noisey. This isn't a bad idea if it is "policed"as this site is supposed to have security.Saturday night was a disgrace as there were plenty of people partying, pumping up airbeds, and generally being as loud as they wanted well after midnight.I like a late drink myself but with the consideration of others in mind.It does spoil camping as most campers appreciate.Noise charge is a joke!

Trouble is £10 is nothing to them, they won't care if they don't see it again anyway. The only way is to insist if there's noise they'll be thrown out.
I'm afraid the fact that a site needs security speaks volumes. I stayed on a site once that had 'security guards' driving about in a van. It did nothing to deter the gangs of hooded teenagers screeching through the pitches on their bikes and ended in a fight where one boy was punched in the face and the police were called. I'm glad to say that the site near Helensburgh no longer takes tourers!
So if the campers are noisy, the site makes more money! I would ask if they intend to redistribute the surcharge to those who have been kept awake by the noise!

Don't like the idea of a noise surcharge. Like others I think it will give people the green light to make noise - they will think it's OK if they pay for it. Silly idea IMHO.
We have been to park foot several times. In the toilet block there are signs up to say anyone found vandalising the facilities will be removed from the site along with their entire party & no refunds will be given. I think it would be better to use the same rule regarding the behaviour of your group. Park foot is not a cheap site so being removed is more of a deterrent than a £10.00 fine. Most groups are fine but there are always some who spend all day drinking shouting & swearing & have little or no regard for anyone else.

Who decides how much noise is too much? Different noise levels are acceptable to different people - can just imagine saying goodnight to my hubby and losing my £10!
been to this campsite twice (several years ago) - the second time was only because we broke down en route and our preferred campsite wouldn't let us arrive after 8pm which we weren't going to manage...
I think the noise surcharge is a bit random, but it's not a quiet site and I wouldn't recommend anyone going there if they don't want to party, even though both times we managed to pitch on a relatively quiet area of the site.
