Hello All,

We have decided to go to either dorset or the new forest area this summer , we are a family of four with 2 girls age 6 and 14.

Where would you stay if you had the choice in these area's, not just what campsite but what town or village ???

we are not fussy and dont mind busy or quiet so are finding it very hard to choose .I have looked at all the reviews etc .......

Please give me some of your choices

Sandy Balls in the New Forest is great - great location - right on the New Forest but you don't have to go through the bottlenecks to get there.  Easy reach of the coast.  Nice activities for your girls - early evening free entertainment for your 6 year old.  Perfect if you like walking and exploring. Plenty to do in the area.  Nice outdoor pool and an indoor one too but it's nothing special.  The restaurant in the plaza does very good food and is very child friendly.  It is a nice size site with a mix of vans/statics/chalets and it is very attractively laid out with good sized pitches on the whole.  It is expensive in high season though - but don't know how it compares in price to other sites in Summer - definitely a bargain off peak.

We have chosen Setthorns in the new forest this year for a) cost and b) the peace!!

We're taking the 15yr old and leaving the 17yr old behind (party time!) the 15yr old only ever plays on an xbox and doesn't use the entertainment side of sites so we though we'd save the cash and go for a basic site!!!!

It has EHU but no showers etc, the OH prefers showering in the van so no problem there either!! (apart from muggins filling the water butt!!)

If anyone else is at Setthorns from the 13th August with a teenager and wants to meet up fro BBQ's etc let me know!

Thanks everyone for those ideas, I will go and look !.......I am terrible for deciding where to go and just thought we should have a change from our usual sites!!!!

By the way Scar we have got a jeep grand cherokee too the OH loves it !!!!!

I will let you know where we book,cant have a site without a shower though, OH will not let me use shower, we have a wet room not a separate shower and he recons the water will leak out!!!! So we all have to march to the shower block

 well  thanks very much all for your ideas ! we have booked to go on a caravan and camping rally in hawkchurch park near Lyme Regis.........But I am definately going to look at staying in some of your recomended sites

we can recommend  east fleet farm touring park.It takes tents to tin tents and it's nice and relaxed with plenty of walks to tire out the kids and dogs.
