Hi All ,
Looking for anyone with first hand experience of camping sites in Scarbourgh , we were looking at Cayton Village , we have read the reviews but want to hear from anyone who has camped in this area.
Also would the Montana 6 + Awning be too big for camping&caravan club sites ?
Any advice, info or help would be great.
Thanks
Tommy

Do you mean the Cayton Village Touring park, the one thats about half amile down the road from the Park Resorts site?
If you do then yes, we have stayed on it a couple of times, but after the last saga never again. Its a medium sized site with a couple of decentish toilet blocks, BUT in the hight of the season and during bank holidays they open up their large very sloping rally field, and pack units in like sardines. This then makes for a very long walk when you need the loo or the showers, which with all the extra people on site there were long waits for, unless you did what we did and got up at dawn for a shower around 6am.
The problem is, that when you book, they do NOT tell you that the pitch they have allocated you is not on the actual campsite, but through a farm gate behind it, not very funny or acceptable when you have mobility problems anyway, and have informed them of that fact on booking. The rally field does have some EHU to the left hand side perimiters of it, as its often let out for other purposes during the quiet season to groups ect, but booking a pitch with EHU does not immune you from being sent onto this field without any prior notice, and being charged the same rate as the main site for the privalage.
Having said all that the first time we visited in early April a couple of years ago, we had a pitch on the main tourist park for a few days, and that wasnt too bad, plenty of toilets and showers to go around, and no long waits to use them. Its the rally field thats the real big problem when its open.

Cayton Village, half a mile from Cayton Bay beach. 4 miles to Filey, think less to Scarborough, other way. Good for surfing. Nice quiet camp site, nice pitch areas. Playground for children up to age 12 which is locked after 8 at night. Security barriers on entering. Large playing field and a floodlit dog walking field. Toilets etc have a code on door. No charge for showers. 20p hair dryers. Small shop on site, very friendly staff. Morrisons 2-3 miles away.
This is begining to sound very good ! might just be the type of place
we are looking for !

mention this prior to booking if we decide to go there...don't want to be
stuck in a sloping rally field !!!
