Just returned from a great couple of nights under canvas at Bunchrew, near Inverness. Hubby doesn't do camping but joined me for the day on Saturday and we went out and about. Here are some photos from the campsite.

Arrived Friday afternoon and as the site was very quiet at that point I could pitch just about anywhere, except right on the waterfront where there were already tents pitched.

I bought a camp bed last week on a sudden impulse, and was so pleased with it. It was really comfy with the sim on top, and it made such a difference from getting up and down off the floor. It was also a very useful seat in the tent and best of all, I could tuck everything underneath it, freeing up floor space.

There is a catering van on site, where you can order a meal and have it cooked and served up on a plate ready to carry to your tent. The lamb chops came with homemade redcurrant sauce - mmm.

Sunset from the campsite.

Down on the beach after midnight taking a picture of the Kessock Bridge leading northwards out of Inverness.

What are they like in a good strong wind?  It was quite windy on one occasion and no problems, but I haven't been in extreme conditions. I'm sure others have mentioned that bell tents seem to cope well with the wind, probably because of the round shape - there's no flat 'wall' for the wind to hit so it's just deflected round or up. It may also help that all the pegs are at different angles to the tent all the way round so they'd need to be pulled in about 15 different directions at once to come out.

like all women she gave told me her rules.  Quite right too! I would agree with your wife on rules 1 and 2, and if my husband came camping with me I'm afraid I'd be a bit of a dictator as well.

It's a nice tent, but dont you have a problem with midges getting in? I cant see any netting!

I can cope with the little blighters when outside, but it's great to be able to go in the tent and zip up the netting.

You're absolutely right, and although I haven't camped amongst the midgies yet, I'm off to the Outer Hebrides next month and have thought about this. The inner tent does have an insect screen part to the door, but I'd prefer not to take the inner, and I've also bought some insect midge netting from Point North/Profabrics to make a screen for the outer door.

Not sure if it's the correct way but it works: I upload them onto Photobucket, then just copy a picture and paste it directly into the post. Mind you, if you then move them around to another folder in Photobucket, the link to them is lost and they disappear from your post.
