Thinking of booking this site for a few weeks time if we can get on. Can anyone personally recommend?

I've read loads of reviews but just wanted a bit of reassurance really

Thanks in advance to anyone who can say a few words :)

East Fleet is quite a large site split into two fields. I haven't been there for some years now but it used to get very busy at weekends (one reason why I disliked it). The bar (which is only open in the evenings) gets packed and trying to find somewhere to sit down and eat can be harrowing. When I was there the main field was interspersed with gravel roadways which tended to remain busy most of the day and into the late evening...persistant car tyres on gravel and me just don't mix  All the pitches seemed to be along the grass verges of these roadways. The upper field was better since it was just grass although they were in the process of 'improving' that area and I don't know what they have done to it.

I never saw any of the 'sunsets over the blue lagoon' which they seem to go a lot on...the Fleet was just an expanse of brown muddy water as far as I could see.

It is, or was, a no nonsense sort of featureless site in my opinion and there are some much nicer sites in the area, West Fleet and Bagwell Farm to mention just two. East Fleet in my opinion is fine as a base for touring the area, which is what I used it for, but not a site I would want to spend a lot of time sitting around on.

Thanks for your honesty. We stayed at Bagwell Farm last year :)

This is a last minute family type thing where my mum and dad (not camped since I was a very young child lol) and brother and his wife and toddler decided to jump in to our hobby ans wanted to go somewhere quite local so not lots of travelling and will be going to beach, into Weymouth etc, so should be doing as you described....using as a base.

I liked Bagwell but we went off peak and it was nice and empty. It's very regimented there with quite small pitches and I think I'd feel hemmed in going in July lol!

Seems like they have three fields now and was going to request the top 'stable' field, away from lagoon (reviews say very windy)

I had to laugh at you quoting the bit about the sunsets!

Will be interesting to see if if anyone else can offer any more info. Will think on....

Appreciate you taking the time to give me your opinion

We stayed there last year and thought it was a great site.

We were in the top field with large pitches, toilets possibly the best we have ever seen, pub prices OK, best spares shop on site and friendly people.

Couldn`t fault it apart from the lane onto the site is narrow so pray you don`t meet anything coming the opposite way !

As I've stated on another thread West Fleet gets my vote over East Fleet.

As one of the owners of East Fleet Farm, I would just like to ask you to take into account the great many reviews here on UKCampsite, and thank all those who have contributed them.  By Bob61's own admission, he hasn't been here for several years.  As our regular visitors will vouch for, we have made a great many improvements to the park over the years, and are constantly reinvesting in our facilities.
One of these improvements happens to be extending our bar into our old shop and reception area, which allows us to seat a further 40 or so customers, so that gripe is no longer valid.
We all work extremely hard to provide a first class facility, but obviously we can't seem to please 100% of the people, 100% of the time.  Whilst everyone is entitled to their opinion, I think to describe our park as "Featureless" is a little far fetched.
I hope you do come and stay with us to find out for yourself, and then review our park with your opinion.

I booked this morning lol! 3 pitches for four nights in the name of Stampfer :)

I asked for the Stable Field and EHU. I explained that I'd read lots of good reviews about the site but that I was a bit concerned about sloping pitches and the wind putting my parents off as they haven't been camping since I was a young child (I'm 40 now!). I didn't want them to have to go home early cos of not being able to sleep properly on a slope or being too cold in the wind from the lagoon. I was also extra fussy and asked to be away from the play area as well. The Stable Field seems perfect for what we want. I have to say that the lady I spoke to was VERY helpful and understanding and has accommodated us perfectly. It was a really easy experience completing the booking.

Clean facilities are a real must for me, and I've read over and over again how they were spotless and really nice size etc.

Just looking forward to the 14th now....woohoo!

Thanks for all the replies and see you soon Richard!

Top, top site

We've been there three times now, and our kids just love it. We stayed in the Stable Field on 2 out of the three stays, and it gets better each time we go.

We will be going back some time - we just wanted to see some different parts of the Country. Now, if we could just pick up East Fleet and move it...........

Thanks guys :)

I'm very excited now lol! We've got away for two lots of five days so far this year and we didn't have another holiday booked until mid August so slotting one in to accommodate the relatives is an added bonus

I'll have to make sure I do a site review when we get back. I always intend to and never get round to it  I don't think I'll get away with forgetting this time!
