Waxham Sands in Norfolk £16 a night with hook up or Drewery Caravan Park Great Yarmouth £14 a night are both decent sites right next to a beach.
A lot further than 100 miles from Manchester/Stalybridge though - more like 197 - but if you can do the distance then I'd certainly recommend Drewery Caravan Site at California (the fact that it's one of my most favourite sites has nothing to do with it! lol) It's in a lovely area, and the camping field is on the cliff top with steps and a path leading down to the beach. If you don't want ehu then you can pitch where you want.
My other suggestion would be Golden Sunset Holidays at Benllech on Anglesey, 114 miles from you. Basic site with showers and toilets, and only a few minutes walk from the village shops. Tent plus two people £14 per night, and there are no marked pitches so you pitch where you want, ideal if you have a big tent. You could possibly have ehu, but these are limited and on a first-come-first-served basis, though you don't get charged any extra. You can fish off the rocks at the bottom end of the site - it's a popular site for fishing - or the beach is only a short drive away, or a walk through the site next door.
