Hi there, The strangers Home Bradfield is where we often pop to for a weekends get-away, it's behind a pub and children friendly, just an hour form Basildon.

Nearer to you we have stayed at Riverside, Wallasea Island, nice walks along the creek.

Have you looked at east mersea, nr colchester, fen farm is a nice little site, lovely shower block and a small play area for children.  Waldegraves is biger and more comercial, with a pool and clubhouse ect.

They are about an hour + 15mins drive, the area is quite nice, fen farm has a David Bellamy award Nature park nextdoor and a nice pub just up the road.

We love Burnham Wick Farm the CL at Burnham on Crouch - lovley views, great walks and plenty of peace and close enough to the town to walk in for a meal and stagger home safely afterwards!
