Anyone know of touring sites in the east or north east London area that they can recommend please, may need to go to that area later in the year and it would be useful to have the info to hand.
Thanks in advance.

"Have a look at Debden House. Very good site set in Epping Forest"
It can be if you manage to avoid the crowds of drunk morons who can frequent the place sometimes. Plus the toilet facilities can resemble something out of a horror movie in the mornings. There also appears to be absolutely zero stewarding of this site but then it is run by Newham Council so one shouldn't be surprised. Apart from that it's great! :)
Abbey wood CC site is very good and very easy to get to.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

But is not in east or NE London, I pity anyone staying there who needs to commute to the other side of the river.
I could have sworn that the last time I looked on the map that the Dartmouth crossing was to the East of London and Abbey Wood was very close to the Dartford crossing when we were there in March. Have they moved it?

It's close geographically but not in the time taken to get across it and into east London. The Woolwich ferry is closer and free but also has big queues, same for the Blackwall tunnel and that's going to be horrible in the rush hours.

We just have to face it all of London is horrible in the rush hour and not much better at other times. We were asked for a site in East London, I presume that Westminster would be central London and that has a Northing of 51.5 degrees, surprisingly Abbey wood also has a Northing of 51.5 degrees so that makes abbey wood due East of Central London, so it is a bit better than close geographically it is absolutely spot on east.

The Lee Valley campsite in Edmonton is good - http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=1122 - easy access by public transport (bus then tube) into London, nice walks down the river and a cinema next to the site. I used to live a few miles away from here & would walk up the river, go to the cinema, camp over night and walk back in the morning. It was a nice break from London life.
