Sorry, but this kind of site and the 'sardine camping' aspect of it is not for me, but everyone to their own, i can see the attractions with the clubs and kids entertainments, swimming pools ect for families, but we prefare somewhere more spacious with better toilet blocks and room to swing a cat (as the saying goes lol) between the pitches. The Primrose Valley touring site is a much better layout, but i dont think they accept tents, but they do have quite a few superpitches.

we are off to Blue Dolphin in August Angie, and as for it being packed like sardines I have been told this is not the case as a friend of mine went camping there last year, and also they have now had new toilet and shower blokes done for this year. The other 2 Haven sites do accept tents, but they are smaller as the holiday makers there get passes to visit Blue Dolphin.
Let me know what it is like Angie.

Thanks Angie, I will never understand why some people have to put places down like Haven. I like to do what my Son likes he is 15 and I know he is gonna love Haven. We wont spend all our time there as we are gonna be there for a week so we will be going off out sight seeing.
Hope you have a lovely time Angie and look forward to hearing from you when you return. I see your not to far away from us.

as I said, everyone to their own, but we did do a reccy around the haven site last year whilst staying at the CC West Ayton site, and during the height of the season the main field is well and truely packed, they do run an overflow field sometimes, and I have been told that this is better space wise, but a long walk away from the main toilet blocks. Well done to them if they have built new shower blocks ect, they were in dire need of them.

The largest Haven site along that coast is Primrose Valley, both for statics and park size, entertainments ect, But I think you will find that they dont take ordinary tents, only F/campers, caravans and motorhomes, Reighton Sands is the smallest park, but they do take tents and other camping units.

We used to go to these sites when our daughters were small, and indeed a couple of times when they were in their teens, but from recent observations last year they are very much like Blackpool with its cash hauling Golden mile, and also their standards in the static caravans had also plummeted with very shoddy housekeeping standards indeed. Our eldest daughter has recently been to Primrose Valley with her young family, and now referes to it as Chav Kingdom!

I remember all these sites when they were owned by the original family businesses in the 60s and 70s, and I was a teenager, Blue Dolphin was owned by the Guiness family, and was Chalets only, with the southern side being Dennis's camp, with static and touring caravans, and a small basic site for tents. Primrose Valley was the old Filey Butlins, with wooden sheds for Chalets, and a cable car running down to the beach. Reighton Sands was the Nalgo camp for union members of the big industries, and during the summer months the families from the big factories used to arrive by the coach loads during the works summer shut down week to enjoy a subsidised week at the seaside with all their fellow workmates butlins style.

Maybe i am getting old lol, but i much prefared the older styles of these camps to what they are today

We stayed last October, site is no problem and plenty going on for kids, lots of things to do around the area.

Few words of warning though, its very windy and sometimes we felt like the caravan was going to take off, this can happen all year round. The pitch was on a slope so ask for a level pitch and be careful because we had a couple of items stolen from the outside of our van, which were quite costly to replace.
