Lots of people do take their bikes and my 13 yr old DS says it's a good idea - we never have as we don't have a carrier but may do next year as the plan is to have a motorhome so we don't have to worry about the wind. (cheap one lol)
It's a big, big site so it means they can get around quicker but I wouldn't recommend leaving them unattended at any time (say at the loos or the shops, as there are so many people there and while I have never heard of anything like that going missing, I wouldn't want to tempt fate and it's not like you can have a quick look round the site to see who nicked it.
Our friends kids took their scooters last time.
