Hi. Can anyone tell me if they know of any sites in the South Wales, Cotswold, Devon, Dorset Area's. Yes, it's quite an area but we don't mind where in any of these regions as long as there is safe easy cycle paths near by.
We are not looking for a field or this type of site. We'd like some decent facillities to come back to after a nice cycle ride. I need safe and easy because I have a learner that won't cycle on roads and don't like too many hills.
Am I asking too much looking at the areas I have chosen, they do have a lot of hills all over the place. Maybe there's a cycle path that goes around, follows an old railway line or something like that. Can you help ??
Mike
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
You could look at sites near canal paths, you can usually cycle safely for miles, and it's usually fairly flat as long as there are not too many locks ( don't choose the Kennet and Avon at Caen Locks LOL ! ) and not too hard going.
For instance, we had a fab weekend at the Basingstoke Canal Centre campsite Basingstoke Canal Visitor Centre, and cycled for many miles and miles. The added bonus is there is usually lots of interesting stuff to see, wildlife, and boats!
Hi mike
Yes a tall order.
Have you thought about the cotswolds hobourne.
Or around the tarka trail near Barnstable. Not sure of any sites around there though.
Pembrey cc site has nice cycling but you would need to cycle to a nearby pub to chill after.
Try typing in cycling caravan sites. Or have a look at the sustrans cycle routes.
Good luck
We're just back from Ferry Meadows in Peterborough. The caravan site (does takes tents) is right next to Nene Country Park with miles and miles of easy and hard cycle paths alongside canal and rail. Completely free from cars. Might be worth a look. Nice site also with a Beefeater and garden centre just down the road and only 3 miles from centre of Peterborough (which you can cycle into - again car free).

The Tudor Caravan Park at Slimbridge on the Sharpness-Gloucester canal is a nice site with miles of flat cycling along the canal.
The Birchwood Campsite near Wareham in Dorset is also a nice site and has access to miles of tracks through the Wareham Forest.
The Three Magpies Pub campsite near Devizes on the Kennet and Avon Canal has miles of cycling along the towpath. The only hilly part is the Caen Locks section as mentioned but you would want to walk that bit anyway otherwise you won't see much of it.
Thanks all for the replies. I seem to have 2 posting for this but never mind, the replies are good and just what we wanted. The wife has looked at them and decided we can go here or there or maybe even have a few days there. I told her 1 at a time.
Peterborough is a bit far for a short break but worth considering for the longer ones.
Basingstoke is certainly worth a go especially as there would be no roads to negotiate on the way to the canal path.
We are going near Pembrey next week so will do the coastal path and look at Pembrey although we went there years ago and this is where I taught my wife to ride a bike along with the youngest of my children.
We go to Cotswold Hobourne. You have to ride on roads and at the moment this is a no go.
We did consider Cardiff and the Taff Trail but wondered about any roads involved.
Bob has some good suggestions all not to far and well worth a look.
We were thinking about the Bath to Bristol cycle path for September. If there is a site at Bath marina we might just give this a go first.
Thanks again all for the replies and help. These all seem to be good starting places. The learner I spoke of is my wife and since I taught her all those years ago has only ridden a bike once a year which is probably less than 20 times. Once I get her more experienced and with more confidence we will venture onto a quiet road without having to stop when a car comes near.
