We love Scarborough too and its not a bit like Blackpool.
When we stayed at C&CC site at Scalby Mills (a few years ago), if you cross the road there is a cliff top walk down to the Sea Life area. I presume this is still open?

OY i LIVE IN BLACKPOOL!!!
lol
Now Emma, if you are going away would you stop at Windy Harbour? (I know someone who does though).
The problem I have at Scarborough is getting crabs in me starfish. No chance of that happening in Blackpool...

C and CC site in Scarborough is great. We spent two weeks there last year and this year and always found something to do in Scarborough and the surrounding area. I agree that the Pickering railway is well worth a visit, we did the trip to Whitby on it this year and spent the whole day there. We have also visted Filey and Bridlington and found both nice seaside resorts.
None of the Yorkshire coast line is in the least like Blackpool.

Scarborough is quite busy, but really nice with it. We stayed on the C&CC site which is out of town. We have a dog, we had a lovely walk from the Campsite to a real oldy worldy pub.
The Pickering Railway is fab, we went to Goathland for the day, lovely.
Whitby is lovely too.
You can take the dogs on parts of the beaches, our Westie loved it.
I'm looking forward to going back soon.

My dog is 10 and has leg/back problems, so alot of walking isnt a good idea (the vets instructions) so a trip on the train to whitby would be nice and it would save me parking the car. As long as we can sit down (maybe on the beach, the dog loves the sand) with a 99 and 1 (minus the flake) for the dog every now and again and my daughter can tootle, off that will nice. I do hope its not raining. Leaving out the busy side of scarborough and keeping to the quieter area. OOHH! quite looking forward to it. I am glad i posted this question, i was all for forgetting a holiday this year because the "friend" said scarborough was "Scanky and Rough"
Thank you all so much.

C&CC site is to the north of Scarbrough town centre at Scalby, within walking distance of the Sea life centre, miniture railway and north bay attractions if your fairly fit, and theres an open top bus that then takes you around the headland, and into the South bay where the actual town centre and main street start.
The C&CC site is the old Scalby Manor touring park which was aquired by the club a couple of years ago, its a large park with quite an open layout, a few pitches do back onto the busy Scarbrough to Whitby road, and theres a Crown carvery and pub accessable through a side gate off the site that do buffet breakfasts and Carvery meals for around £4 a head, with reasonably priced drinks too.
