Hi there,

I know it's school holidays - but we are looking to go away next weekend (just fri night to sunday) but all of our regular haunts are full.

Ideally we'd like electric, dog friendly and walking distance to a pub/countryside/coast

Any ideas most appreciated.  Thanks

Are you CC members?  Lakeside CC site near Exmoor almost fits your criteria.  Big dog walk, lovely pub (Anchor Inn) which has a glorious riverside beer garden is within 5 mins walk.  Set within countryside area, but compromise is coast is by car.  (nearest beach - Dunster/Minehead).

If the site says full on the CC site, ring the warden - they sometimes can fit you in.

I'll try and think of some others!  We are also looking for the same weekend!

I know Yeatheridge Farm (crediton) has space without electric cos I emailed them yesterday, but it's a 3 night min stay.

One of our old favourites is Thorney Lakes, Langport.  Lovely rural location with endless dog walks - compromise is nowhere near beach.  You could try there?

Bowdens Crest Langport also looks nice - they have pub onsite. 

This one is on our must do list, purely because it has 6 onsite acres of dog walking.

Legge Farm, Highampton (near Beaworthy).  Is set in rural countryside, if you like quiet sites you will love it.  Although Beaworthy is quite remote, and nearest beach is Bude.

We've just returned from Harford Bridge, Tavistock.  Lovely site just west of Dartmoor, next to the river.  2 miles to Tavistock town centre.  They are very friendly and helpful if you ring them.

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who made suggestions for sites for our weekend away.  We have managed to book into Moor View Touring Park at Modbury, Devon.  The website looks good and the gentleman I spoke to on the phone when making the booking was most helpful.
