Hi guys

My head is totally battered now

I am visiting my parents in Essex for a few days and thought it would be nice to have a stop over for a couple of days on the way

I live in Durham so will be travelling straight down the a1, there doesnt seem to be a lot of campsites about that would be suitable for a nine year old boy.

has anyone got any suggestions where i can look, I tried one in Newark which was fully booked

If it is mid week try CC Clumber park. If at weekend it is likely to be full.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

Was the one you tried 'Milestone Caravan Park'? if not give them a ring, we have never had no trouble getting booked there. Not really lots to do for young children, they have a few fishing ponds and a small play area, but if you are only stopping for 1 night it's ideal.

Try Smeaton Lakes there, I've never known it full. Its just a few miles from the A1

Clumber is a huge ( several sqare miles ) country park with lots of forest trails, plenty of room for safe bike riding, the CC site there has a very pleasant kids playground and direct access to the woods. You see lots of kids there and they all seem to enjoy themselves. I doubt that you will find a pitch for a Friday or a saturday night though.
