Hi Everyone, i am looking to go camping near the Dumfries area to experience the 7 stanes mountain biking area. i just wondered if any of you out there have some good advice as to a nice cheap camping site where we can pitch our tent and go cycling for the day?

We are not to bothered about the luxuries some sites offer as long as it has hot water and is clean! open fires would be a benefit but not essential!!

Marthrown of mabie looks really good and they have a hot tub lol.  Before buying a tent I was going to go glamping in one of there yurts, but fully booked.  Not sure how to link it up as requested sorry (newbie to this and camping lol ) but googling the name works.

Queensberry Bay at Powfoot is a lovely quiet site.
I'm sure it rings a bell that they told us part of the cycle route ran through the campsite itself.

Castle Point in Rockcliffe is very nice,accept tourers and tents.Plenty of bike rides nearby,ideal for you and nice views from site

Drumroaming Farm at Kirkinner near Newton Stewart, it`s about a 20 minute drive to the Galloway Forest Park. Reasonably priced and superb facilities.

HIKER’S PITCHES - being on the SUSTRANS route, we actively promote cycling and walking and offer these budget pitches for any hikers or cyclists who want to pitch their one-man tent for the night (or longer of course). In addition to our modern laundry facilities we also have a drying room - so if you’re unlucky enough to get caught in one of our showers, you can at least set off in the morning with dry clothes!
1 man hiker tent (and push bike): £5.00 all year round.
