Hi all

Hoping for some help. Planning on a short trip at the very start of September before son (10) has to go back to school and we're unsure of where to book. Initially we were thinking Jasmine Park near Pickering as it's only about an hour from home so not too far for the baby (she'll be about 6 months), but some of the recent reviews have put us off some what. Any other recommendations around that area that would be suitable for us?

Ideally we need a site with hookups, accepts both caravan and tent as grandparents are bringing their van, clean showers (a bath would be fantastic for the little one) and a playground.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi

Golden Square, Hemsley would suit you all. Nice site and 2 playgrounds for different ages.

We've too have been looking Jasmine Park, but have large tent and some reviews say tent pitches not that big?  We like space.

I'd not heard of that one, thanks.

Currently looking at Wolds Way and Vale of Pickering, anyone had any experience with those?

Hello again

Vale of Pickering lovely site, havnt been to Wolds Way but have had it recommended.

Gentleman who runs Golden Square, has relation who runs Cote Ghyll, Osmotherly, again nice site which would suit.

I am deciding which one to ring myself, grandchildren 7 and 9.

3 bad reviews in 5 years isnt so bad you know.... tents are getting larger and larger every year and unfortunately people turn up with tents larger than some static caravans and expect a nice spacious pitch. In September it will be a lot quieter than August, and we can spread people out a bit.

From the list of requirements you have asked for it sounds like we would be perfect for you.

Not near you but Brighouse Bay in Scotland has fantastic facilities for babies. I was very impressed when we took our baby there.

Just out of curiosity i have had a look at our reviews from last year and not one mentions pitches being small, despite them being exactly the same size (30ft). Have peoples expectations changed, tents got bigger, or maybe it is new campers not knowing what to expect. Just a thought.

No I agree with you, infact i've discounted one of the reviews as it almost looks like it was done to drag your score down and increase a competitors. However it's the fact the 3 reviews are all in a block almost looks like standards slipped for a while. Your reviews have been glowing since. Hope I didn't offend as it wasn't my intention, just with a baby to consider and other peoples expectations being shouldered by myself I'm trying to make sure I pick the best one I can.

All we'll be bringing is a 21ft van (no awning) and a Montana 6. Would you be able to put us together, both with hookups?

Not sure what your dates are but in September it should not be a problem at all.

We do keep a close eye on our reviews and since then we have been working hard to keep standards as high as we expect, we have taken on an extra cleaner to get us through the busy summer period.

Funnily enough we actually got graded by the AA on the same day as some of the reviews were from (we do check against bookings when people stayed) - the official inspectors words were:

Date of Inspection

28th July 2011

Matthew was busy strimming touring areas when I called and everywhere was maintained in pristine condition. The new fully serviced pitches are a real benefit and within the amenities blocks a diligent approach to cleanliness was observed.
