There are hard standings at Aden, but mainly they are only the width of the 'van. There is a tarmac area where some people pitch though it doesn't look very attractive. Haven't stayed on the site personally as we always stay at the council site further up in Fraserburgh (an awful site compared to the CC ones we normally use ... but we have our reasons!). We did have a look at Aden though last month as the future of the Fraserburgh site is unclear as Aberdeenshire Council are selling off all of their sites. I'm sure the warden at Fraserburgh said Aden, which is the best of the bunch, had found a buyer.
I had hoped the CC would have taken on Aden, as they had been approached about other sites belonging to the council, but alas not. Shame it is a great location and could be very, very nice.

Thanks Iain. I could not make out much in the site photos for Aden. With all the wet weather recently I am a bit worried about booking a grass pitch. I suppose a narrow hardstanding is better than nothing.
We have booked Silverbank CC for 8 nights, but wanted to move on a bit further north for 4 nights to visit a dear friend in Fyvie without too much driving.
Also considering Huntly Castle, but having a problem getting prices from them.
We always stay at Silverbank prior to heading for Fraserburgh. Wonderful site ... was going to suggest that to you but presumed you wished to stay in the heart of Buchan.
Your best bet is probably to stay at Silverbank for longer ... nice big hard standing pitches.
If only the female warden would stop trying to sell her plaster sheep to everyone!

Stayed at Turriff last year very friendly, helpful warden but site a bit tired, facilities adequate - just, but basic. Few hardstandings & not up to CC standard. Prices low so good value for money with discounts for OAP's. Site close to town, good dog walks, was quiet during our stay but could be hectic if the static vans are busy. Enjoyed our stay & would go again. Disappointment - the 'Turra' accent is disappearing since I worked there in the 1980's. Some years since we stayed at Huntly Castle, excellent site but the prices reflected this. Pays your money & takes your choice?

Was up at Ballater today and spoke with with some of the folk in the statics. Its all a bit vague, not much information being given out. Noted that the traffic flow is now anti clockwise as the arrows on the road have been repainted. No notices in the office window or notice board. Site is still meant to be opening next weekend (31 March 2012)
