Hotel I was staying at this week (for work) was charging £9 to £12 per day depending on service. Needless to say 3G dongle was used instead.

CCC charge £2 a day or £10 a week, bit more reasonable.

Its difficult to judge. Some campsite charge by the hour which is fine for the modest user because they can log in and log off and make the time last over a number of days. A daily charge is better for the heavy user. Did they not offer a discount for a weeks worth?

Is this just another example of 'rip-off Britain'?

I've just had a holiday in France - didn't need to pay for WiFi once! Free on both campsites - and even the cheap, budget hotels had free access in the room! Supermarkets had free access to WiFi ..... McDonalds had free access ..... Orleans appeared to have free public hotspots around the city (several signs spotted but didn't avail myself!).

McDonalds has free wifi in the UK too. I just came back froma campsite in Hertfordshire with free wifi and I live in Bristol where there are free wifi hotspots (and terminals!) throughout the city.
This summer in France the site wifi was €5 a day and my son thought a day's gaming compared favourably to other activities he did, from pool at €2 a frame and karting at €35 for 3x 10 minutes. As teenagers are not capable of staying awake 24 hours a day I managed to check my mail etc at son's expense

Hmm, I can never get away from emails as they turn up on my phone as well. I work for a small company where unfortunately I am the only person with the knowledge on some situations.

That aside, I take my own wifi using this http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/Shop/ShopDetail.asp?ProductID=9671 and a pay as you go dongle. It keeps the kids and wife happy.

I'm typing this on a club wi-fi at this very moment and quite happy to pay £12 for a whole week's use. Best thing for me is that I've also been able to download new e-books to my Kindle, (not having the more pricey 3G version), using the same sign in, wicked!

They do different rates on this site, (Tregarton Park, Nr. Mevagissey, Cornwall), but the rate for the whole week at a time is a much cheaper option at the £12. They also do a family rate which allows up to four devices to be used at once for I think it's £24? But don't quote me on that, haven't double checked it.

I've not been using the lappy for pijuns, (email), but more for research into places to eat where dogs are allowed, tide times, (for fishing), doing my lottery and even ordered a new pair of Cr*cs for myself in a sale and a camera case for hubby's birthday camera I'd got him. We're here for 24 nights so had plenty of time for things to be delivered to us on siteSadly only......6 nights of the hols left.......boooo hooooo.

Btw....we did bring our Vodaphone dongle but it had absolutely NO signal here at all which we'd sort of been aware of before leaving home since it does say on their website that Vodaphone has no signal for hereabouts, just like most of the networks. Strange that our O2 mobiles seem to have an almost perfect signal on this site though. Maybe we ought to get a different dongle

Have recently got back from Dinnle Caravan Park in N Wales and they have TWO wi-fi connections, one for the whole site and a Hotspot one in the bar area. Both are free, you simply go to the bar and ask them for the username and password and they give you a slip of paper with them on.

Funnily enuff I did wonder at first if that was the case with our dongle not working on this site but knowing that other folk with iPhones have only a few probs, (i.e. may have to go a-wandering to get a decent signal around the site), I know that's not the case here. Might defo be worth be looking into a different dongle for here methinks. Not today though, just been browsing on line again and bought hubby ANOTHER flippin' cameraPicking it up tomorrow afternoon at the local Tesco dagnamit! He's been after a more high spec digital SLR version for a-g-es, so this is either a belated birthday pressie for a couple of weeks ago, (although he already got a small higher spec one for that), or a reallllly early pressie for that festive time in December.AND I've downloaded another EIGHT flippin' books to me Kindle! Most were freebies though so debit card didn't have to go into melt down.Luv me wi-fi home or away!
